I believe philosophy and philosophical thinking can have a positive impact on the wider community. Outside of my academic work, I aim to foster respective dialogue and critical thinking skills across different cultural, religious, and political divides. Below are some examples of my service to the profession both in and out of the academy. I've also done a couple of YouTube interviews on my work. See below!
This year, I've participated in facilitating philosophy workshops and presentations for elementary school children at the University of Alberta as part of the Uschool program. Students attend a week-long immersion program at the university that exposes them to different activities, disciplines, and workshops.
I've worked with the Undergraduate Philosophy Association to create and coordinate a mentorship program for undergraduate philosophy students. Our program pairs each undergraduate student with an experienced graduate student who can provide them with guidance and mentorship for completing their degree and applying to graduate school programs.
I've volunteered as a judge for Ethics Bowl Canada, Ethics Bowl Canada is comprised of teams of high-school students that debate various ethical cases at regional, provincial, and national competitions. |
